Thought and Words is an MOE-registered Learning Centre providing English programmes specializing in Writing skills for primary school students. All our writing materials are developed in-house by our Founders using a unique and proven approach that engages the learner. A recognised educator of English with over 20 years teaching experience in Singapore, Jacqueline has won several awards including the Inspiring Teacher of English Award.
Our Team
Students at Thought and Words are taught by teachers who possess not only a love for teaching but a deep knowledge of the English language and the skills to guide them on their language journey. Every lesson is thoughtfully executed, leading to student success.
Jacqueline Yeo
Founder & Curriculum Writer
Jacqueline Yeo is a recognised educator of English with a wealth of teaching experience in Singapore. Prior to founding Thought and Words, Jacqueline was Head of Department for English Language at Nanyang Primary School.
Jacqueline is a Bachelor of Arts graduate from the National University of Singapore majoring in English Language, Literature and English in Applied Discourse. She obtained the Specialist Certificate in Language Curriculum & Materials Development through the SEAMEO Scholarship Programme and the degree of Masters of Arts in Primary Education with Distinction (UK). Jacqueline was also trained to teach high ability pupils.
Her contributions to the field of education have been widely recognised, winning accolades and awards for her dedication to student success and educational innovation. These include The National Day Award (Commendation Medal), The National Day Honours, the coveted Inspiring Teacher of English Award by MOE and the Outstanding Contributor Award.
As a school teacher and HoD, she constantly explored new approaches to teaching. She spent many years of her career developing an array of materials to teach pupils how to write effectively and improve learning outcomes. She conducted professional sharing at school conferences and national seminars. In 2010, she presented at the inaugural Holistic Assessment Seminar attended by teachers and principals. She was also invited to speak at the Ministry of Education’s ExCEL Fest 2013 which was attended by educators and the public.
Geraldine Yeo
Founder & Curriculum Writer
An English Language and English Literature major, Geraldine graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English with Second Class Honours (Upper Division).
Her passion for the English language motivated her to co-found Thought and Words Learning Centre. Together with Jacqueline, she designs and develops programme curriculum and crafts focussed and entertaining stories for the children.
Geraldine has been teaching at Thought and Words Learning Centre since its inception. She is a kind, patient and nurturing teacher. Her lessons are meticulously designed to engage the children, are lively and full of wit and humour.
Prior to Thought and Words Learning Centre, Geraldine was a seasoned public relations and corporate communications practitioner in the commercial sector. Her strong writing skills were applied in a broad range of media and creative writing assignments including editing newsletters, writing copies for advertisements, video scripts and publicity materials.
Brandon Ng
Teacher
Mr Brandon Ng joined the Ministry of Education, Singapore in 1995. He spent many years teaching at Nanyang Primary School. In his capacity as Subject Head for Innovation and Special Project at NYPS, he led a team of teachers to spearhead the Collage Programme which aimed to create an interdisciplinary learning and teaching environment, fostering the development of confident and independent learners for every subject. He and his team presented the programme to international participants at the 9th World Convention of the International Confederation of Principals. He also guided a team of Heads of Department and Subject Heads from other schools in their curriculum project, which served as the culminating milestone of the Management-and-Leadership-in-Schools course.
Brandon has a genuine enthusiasm for teaching. Not only did he mentor NIE trainee teachers during their teaching practice at the school, guiding them to build confidence and succeed as educators, but he was also well-loved by his students for his patience and unwavering commitment to their learning and success. With a love for the English Language, he aims to inspire students at Thought and Words to appreciate the beauty of the language and explore its depth and richness.
